How To Set A Mole Trap

If you wish to be a professional mole trapper there are few tips you need to know. Most people have tested that the most effective way of catching the moles is by trapping. In most cases it becomes very difficult especially if you have no clue on how to set a mole trap. Get to know if their tunnels are difficult to understand so that you know your next step.

Live trapping would be a good beginning for non-experts who cannot put up with the moles. Here you put a bucket under the active tunnel waiting for one to fall inside. They are not bad creatures since they eat the harmful microorganisms found in the soil. Also they help in soil aeration. Therefore, if for some reason you do not mind them there is no need for setting a trap.

Mole traps can be easily found therefore read the instructions given by the manufacturer so that you know the correct way to set the trap. The most effective and tested method has been spring trap. This is whereby one makes a small surface in the area flat and places the trap over the surface. Wait for the moment a mole will fall inside.

Step by step follow the instructions indicated and arm the tool. In case it takes days before it has been trapped remove and take it to a different tunnel. This kind of trap is activated when the mole pushes itself hard touching the spring. These traps must be set in places where moles are active. Therefore before taking any step locate the active tunnels.

If you get a trap before the mole settles you will end up chasing one mole all over you compound. A mole will not settle until it feels secure in a given area. Do not distract it until you stop seeing mole hills pop up every morning. To know how long and deep the hole is stick in a something that can measure the length.

The trap should be in a position whereby it can be set off once it is touched. These traps are closely related to the mice ones whereby with the slightest touch the go off. You do not want to lose your target. Place it a place where there will be no distraction. Ensure that you remove the soil away from the trap since it could prevent moles from being trapped.

Cover the hole like it was after setting them. When carrying out the process ensure you remove any spilled soil and make sure no more falls in so that the entrance is blocked. During the covering process ensure it is well sealed to avoid light from penetrating into the hole. Light scares the moles away thus they could escape before being trapped.

If you want to be a mole hunter know the basis of how they dig their tunnels how deep and long they are. It could be an exciting job if you have passion for the work. However if you are only doing it just to get them out of your compound first know the active holes. Get to know how deep they are so that you can settle for a particular trap.
