Effectiveness Of Learning Games For Kindergarten And 1st Grade

By Christine Watson

It is very acceptable that a teacher or instructor uses different approaches when they engage with different types of learners. It is for this reason that university and high schools, for example, do not teach the same. For kids, their sharp and eager minds are always attracted to all what is around. The effectiveness of learning games for kindergarten and 1st grade has made all people to use this methodology.

Firstly each game that is designed for learning is aimed at giving the players a unique skill be it academic or life skill. The social aspect of kids needs to be sharpened since they have come from different home. These games enable them to interact, and through this, they can socialize. They will eventually develop the attitude of accepting and understanding those around them.

Almost all games have a competition factor on them where there are winner and losers. As they play in teams, they develop a teamwork mentality that is vital for their entire course of learning. Also, they learn to accept the results of any competition where winning should not be a daily occurrence. As they feel bad when they lose they learn to work hard towards success.

No game can be played without the moderator giving the rules and instructions that govern the play. By this, these young learners can understand the importance of listening since without it one cannot play and thus will be the loser. In the end, they become good listeners, an important skill in their entire learning progress.

The number theory will follow us everywhere in our lives even after we stop learning. It is for this reason that most activities especially the board games are aimed at ensuring that the young learners are aware of our numbering system. By this, they will be able to count, add and perform all other basic mathematical operations with minimum hustle.

The difficult areas that kindergarten teachers meet are when it comes to reading. The area is difficult since none of them does have even a clue when it comes to reading. Those selected in this area should be carefully chosen. The best ones in this area are those that have words that are associated with images. By seeing a picture, it becomes easy for one to relate it to the word.

The earlier mentioned are not the only benefits. The list is endless. However, generating these benefits can only be determined by the teacher. They should ensure that they settle for games that are very interesting to the kids so that all of them can enjoy participating. It becomes unnecessary if there is a section of the class which participates dormant since they will be left behind.

The history of kindergarten games has been there for long. There is no point in time that this system has yielded negative results. However, an important thing to be taken into account when choosing the game is the kind of kids. The age and level of learning will determine the skills required and the game type to be deployed.
